Multiple people arrested following large drug bust in Georgia

GEORGIA — A routine traffic stop for a suspected window tint violation led to felony drug trafficking arrests in Dougherty County on Monday, according to the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said they pulled over a white Buick in the 700 block of Slappy Boulevard after observing a possible window tint violation and a failure to signal a turn. During the stop, deputies reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Authorities searched the vehicle and discovered two firearms, drug paraphernalia and a large quantity of marijuana. According to the sheriff’s office, deputies recovered a .40-caliber Glock 27 and a 9mm Taurus G2 pistol.

Investigators also seized approximately 456 grams of marijuana, multiple small plastic baggies, a scale and $861 in cash.

Everyone inside the vehicle was arrested, although officials did not specify how many individuals were involved.

Those arrested were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime. The suspects are currently being held at the Dougherty County Jail.
