Thousands without power in Pennsylvania

PENNSYLVANIA — More than 5,000 homes and businesses across Pennsylvania are without electricity Wednesday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, 5,165 customers statewide are reported without power out of more than 6.7 million tracked customers. The outages represent about 0.08% of electricity customers in the state.

Mercer County reported the highest number of outages, with 1,282 customers without power.

Other counties with notable outages include Allegheny County with 1,137 customers affected, Lycoming County with 671 outages and Philadelphia County with 522 customers without electricity. Erie County also reported 446 outages, while Delaware County had 261 customers affected.

By utility company, FirstEnergy reported the largest number of outages with 2,681 customers without power. Duquesne Light Company reported 1,129 outages, while PECO Energy Company listed 1,048 customers affected.

Statewide, officials continue to monitor the outages as crews work to restore service. Pennsylvania currently ranks among the states with the highest number of power outages in the country.
