OHIO — An 81-year-old woman was killed Monday afternoon in a four-vehicle crash on State Route 61, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Officials said the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. while road work was underway and a flagger was controlling traffic. A Ram pickup truck had stopped in the northbound lane, with a Toyota RAV4 stopped behind it.
Authorities said Ruth Pridemore, 81, of Willard, was slowing down as she approached the stopped vehicles when her car was struck by a fourth vehicle. The impact pushed Pridemore’s vehicle into the Toyota, which then hit the Ram pickup.
Pridemore was pronounced dead at the scene. The other three drivers involved suffered minor injuries and were not taken to the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
