INDIANA — A convicted felon has been arrested after authorities say he illegally re-entered the United States following a prior deportation.
According to a news release from the FBI’s Indianapolis office, 37-year-old Angel Roman-Hipolito, a Mexican citizen, was taken into custody in Boone County.
Investigators say Roman-Hipolito had previously been deported in 2023 after serving more than eight years in federal prison on drug trafficking charges.
Authorities said Roman-Hipolito was also wanted for violating the terms of his supervised release after reportedly fleeing from police during a traffic stop in the spring of 2025.
The arrest was part of a multi-agency operation known as “Operation No Escape,” led by the FBI and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
When officers questioned him after the arrest, authorities say Roman-Hipolito gave a false name and provided fake identification documents. Officials say the operation is aimed at locating and arresting violent fugitives who attempt to evade law enforcement.
