Thousands without power in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — Thousands of homes and businesses across North Carolina are without electricity Monday morning, according to the latest data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the most recent update, about 3,500 customers statewide are experiencing power outages. The outages represent roughly 0.06% of the nearly 5.9 million customers tracked across the state.

Wilson County reported the highest number of outages, with 1,186 customers without power.

Randolph County followed with 1,043 outages. Smaller numbers of outages were also reported in Wake County with 304 customers affected and Mecklenburg County with 230.

Several utilities reported outages across their service areas. Wilson Energy had the largest number of customers without power at 1,182, followed by Duke Energy with 1,088 outages and Randolph Electric Membership Corporation with 1,041.

Power companies continue working to restore service to affected customers.
