KENTUCKY — Two people were arrested Sunday after police discovered them inside a storage shed at a Madisonville storage facility.

According to the Madisonville Police Department, officers were patrolling the Shedtech storage facility when they heard voices coming from a blue storage shed at the back of the property.

Police said two individuals, later identified as Rick Romig and Christine Williams, walked out of the shed when officers approached them.

During questioning, Romig told officers the pair had been staying inside the shed for several nights. Officers reported seeing personal belongings inside the shed that appeared to belong to the two individuals.

Police also observed trash scattered around the shed and in the grass area behind it. According to officers, Romig admitted that he and Williams shared half a bottle of vodka and threw the bottle into a swampy area behind the shed.

Officers said they could smell alcohol on both individuals.

Romig and Williams were arrested and taken to the Hopkins County Jail.

Both face charges of criminal trespassing, criminal littering and public intoxication.
