TENNESSEE — One person was injured Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle in Greeneville, according to the Greeneville Police Department.
Police said the crash occurred around 8:25 p.m. at the intersection of Tusculum Boulevard and East Grove Street.
According to a crash report, a pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk when a vehicle traveling east struck the person in the roadway. The driver told police it was raining heavily at the time of the crash.
The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of suspected injuries. Authorities have not released the person’s identity or an update on their condition.
Two witnesses told officers they did not believe the vehicle was speeding and said the pedestrian walked into the travel lane.
The crash remains under investigation by the Greeneville Police Department.
