
SOUTH CAROLINA — Nearly 2,000 homes and businesses across South Carolina are without electricity Sunday evening, according to data from PowerOutage.us.
As of the latest update, 1,977 customers statewide were reported without power out of more than 3 million customers tracked. That represents about 0.06% of electricity customers across the state.
Laurens County reported the largest number of outages, with 1,539 customers without power. The county also had the highest percentage of customers affected, with about 4.19% experiencing outages.
Additional outages were reported in several other counties, including Anderson County with 232 customers without power, Horry County with 99, Charleston County with 69 and Beaufort County with 23.
The majority of outages were tied to the Laurens Commission of Public Works, which reported 1,539 customers without electricity out of roughly 5,482 customers served. Smaller outages were reported among customers served by Duke Energy, Santee Cooper and Dominion Energy.
Statewide, South Carolina ranked ninth in the nation for the total number of customers without power Sunday evening. Utility crews continue working to restore electricity in the affected areas.
