One person dead after being struck by multiple vehicles on I-70 in Pennsylvania

PENNSYLVANIA — An investigation is underway after a person was struck and killed along Interstate 70 in Washington County early Sunday morning.

According to Washington County Coroner Timothy Warco, a tractor-trailer driver called 911 around 4 a.m. after spotting what appeared to be a person lying on eastbound I-70. The individual was found about 200 feet from the Chestnut Street on-ramp in North Franklin Township.

Officials said the person, who has not yet been identified, appeared to have been struck multiple times by several vehicles. Authorities believe the individual may have been a pedestrian, though that has not been confirmed.

Pennsylvania State Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
