
TEXAS — More than 11,000 homes and businesses across Texas are without electricity as of Sunday morning following severe storms, according to the latest outage data.
Power outage tracking shows 11,922 customers without power statewide. That represents about 0.08% of the 15,577,396 electric customers currently being monitored across Texas.
Texas currently has the highest number of power outages in the United States, though it ranks 13th nationally when measured by the percentage of customers affected.
Among the state’s 254 counties, Harris County reported the largest number of outages, with 3,071 customers without electricity. Harris County is also the hardest hit by percentage, with approximately 0.13% of customers affected.
Several other counties are also reporting notable outages. Jefferson County has 2,351 customers without power, followed by Starr County with 2,138. Bexar County reported 639 outages, Galveston County had 539, Brazoria County reported 487 outages, Maverick County had 382 and Webb County reported 376 customers without electricity.
Outage data from 79 utilities across Texas is currently being tracked. American Electric Power Texas reported the largest number of customers without service, with 3,295 outages. Meanwhile, Lamb County Electric Cooperative has the highest percentage of customers affected, with about 1.97% of its customers without power.
Utility crews are continuing to monitor the outages and work to restore service. The causes of the outages were not immediately available.
