GEORGIA — A traffic stop in Jones County led to a drug arrest earlier this week, according to the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Lt. Carr conducted a traffic stop Tuesday on a vehicle for an equipment violation. As he approached the vehicle, Lt. Carr reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside.

The passenger, identified as Zanqavious Sandifer, was asked to step out of the vehicle. According to the sheriff’s office, Sandifer removed a bag he had been wearing across his chest as he exited.

Lt. Carr then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle due to the odor of marijuana, the sheriff’s office said. During the search, authorities said marijuana and suspected MDMA were found inside the bag Sandifer had been wearing.

Sandifer was taken into custody and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of MDMA.

According to officials, Sandifer is currently being held at the Jones County Jail and is also facing a parole violation.
