OHIO — A 52-year-old man was arrested Friday morning after police say he robbed a convenience store with a knife and later led officers on a pursuit.
According to Wadsworth police, officers received a call around 5 a.m. reporting a robbery at the Minit Mart convenience store on College Street. Police said an unknown man entered the store armed with a knife, took an undetermined amount of cash, and forced the clerk into a cooler before fleeing on foot.
Investigators later identified a suspect and began surveillance of his residence.
Around 8:20 a.m., officers observed the suspect leaving the home in a vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Police said the driver did not stop, leading officers on a pursuit.
The chase ended when the suspect returned to his residence on West Street, where officers took him into custody.
Police identified the suspect as David R. Jimison Jr. of Wadsworth. He is being held in the Medina County Jail and faces charges of aggravated robbery, kidnapping, and failure to comply with police.
Authorities also credited the Smithville Police Department’s K-9 unit for assisting in the investigation.
