Thousands without power in Texas

TEXAS — More than 3,000 homes and businesses across Texas are without electricity Friday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the most recent update, about 3,027 customers statewide were experiencing outages, representing roughly 0.02% of the more than 15.5 million customers tracked across the state.

Harrison County reported the largest number of outages, with 999 customers without power. Harris County, the most populous county in Texas, had 634 customers affected, while Denton County reported 365 outages.

Additional outages were reported in Montgomery County, where 230 customers were without electricity, and Hutchinson County with 212 outages. Smaller numbers of outages were also recorded in Tarrant County, Nueces County, and Orange County.

Among utilities, Upshur Rural Electric Cooperative reported the largest number of outages with 1,013 customers affected. CenterPoint Energy reported 902 outages, while Oncor had 542 customers without power. Xcel Energy and American Electric Power Texas also reported smaller numbers of outages.

Overall, Texas ranked second in the nation for the total number of outages Friday morning, according to the outage tracking website. Utility crews continue working to restore service where outages remain.
