LOUISIANA — A narcotics investigation at a convenience store in Breaux Bridge resulted in the arrest of a St. Martinville man and the seizure of drugs, firearms and cash, according to deputies.

Authorities said Abdulwahab Saleh, 21, was arrested following a narcotics search conducted on Feb. 19 at Sunny Dee’s Convenience Store in the 2400 block of Coteau Rodaire Highway.

Saleh has been charged with possession with intent to distribute Schedule I controlled dangerous substances, illegal carrying of weapons, and sale, distribution, or possession of a legend drug without a prescription or order.

Deputies said the search was carried out as part of an investigation into suspected illegal drug activity at the store. During the search, authorities reported seizing two 15-milliliter bottles of synthetic cannabinoids, one THC vape cartridge, one box of Tadalafil, two firearms and $6,893 in cash. Investigators later identified Saleh as a suspect in connection with the case.

As part of the ongoing investigation, officers with the Lafayette Police Department’s Narcotics Division also conducted a search at a property in the 100 block of Grandmark Street. Deputies said that search resulted in the discovery of $164,187 in cash.

Following his arrest, Saleh was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center. Authorities said bond information has not yet been released.
