One person arrested following drug bust on I-40 in Arizona

ARIZONA — A person was arrested Monday after deputies discovered suspected fentanyl during a traffic stop along Interstate 40 near Flagstaff, according to the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the sheriff’s office K9 unit stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation around 1:30 p.m. near the Walnut Canyon exit along I-40. After the vehicle pulled over, deputies obtained consent to search the car.

During the search, deputies said they located approximately 2.4 pounds of suspected fentanyl powder inside the vehicle. Officials estimated the drugs have a street value of about $30,720.

The driver, identified as 35-year-old Griselda Vences, was arrested and booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility.

She faces charges including transportation of narcotic drugs for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia and introducing contraband into a correctional facility, according to authorities.
