MICHIGAN — A driver was killed early Friday morning in a crash on southbound Interstate 275 near 8 Mile Road in Livonia, according to police.
Authorities said the crash occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m., prompting the Michigan Department of Transportation to close the freeway at the location.
Investigators said a Chevrolet Camaro driven by a 21-year-old man from Plymouth was traveling too fast for the slippery road conditions when the vehicle spun out and lost control in front of a semi-truck.
The Camaro driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the semi-truck driver is cooperating with investigators, and there were no indications that alcohol or drugs were involved.
The freeway has been closed since just before 4:30 a.m., though officials said two lanes have since reopened. Authorities expect the roadway to fully reopen later in the morning.
The crash remains under investigation.
