Thousands without power in Indiana

INDIANA — Thousands of homes and businesses across Indiana are without electricity Thursday morning, according to the latest outage data.

As of the most recent update, 3,527 customers are without power statewide. That represents about 0.11% of the 3,236,946 electric customers tracked across Indiana.

Indiana currently ranks third in the United States for the total number of outages and also ranks third nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.

Among the state’s 92 counties, Jasper County reported the highest number of outages, with 1,138 customers without power. Jasper County is also the hardest hit by percentage, with approximately 6.79% of customers experiencing outages.

Other counties reporting outages include Randolph County with 934 customers affected, Parke County with 412, Orange County with 199, Vanderburgh County with 167, Delaware County with 150, Pulaski County with 123, and Washington County with 116.

Utility data shows Jasper County REMC reporting the largest number of customers without electricity, with 1,252 outages. The same utility also has the highest percentage of customers affected, with about 12.71% without power.

Utility crews are working to restore service across affected areas.
