
MARYLAND — Authorities are investigating a deadly multi-vehicle crash that occurred Monday night in Damascus.
According to the Montgomery County Police, officers and fire rescue crews from the 5th District responded around 10:29 p.m. to Ridge Road north of Sweepstakes Road following reports of a collision involving multiple vehicles.
When first responders arrived, they found the driver of a Toyota Camry in the roadway after he had been ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the driver of a Lexus NX350, an adult woman, was trapped inside her vehicle and had to be extricated. She was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A third vehicle, a Ford Fusion, was also involved in the crash, but its driver was not injured.
Witnesses told investigators the Toyota had been traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the collision.
The Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash. Authorities said the name of the deceased will be released after next of kin have been notified.
