Ohio high school evacuated following bomb threat

OHIO — Wadsworth High School was evacuated Monday afternoon after a bomb threat was reported.

Superintendent Andy Hill said school resource officers and administrators became aware of the threat involving the high school at approximately 1:45 p.m. Students and staff were immediately evacuated from the building as officials worked with the Wadsworth Police Department.

Hill said that while school officials and police had no reason to believe the threat was credible, the decision was made to evacuate the building to ensure everyone’s safety as authorities conducted their investigation.

The police department later cleared the building for re-entry following a search that included bomb detection dogs from several surrounding agencies.

Hill said the district is working closely with law enforcement to determine who was responsible for making the threat.

Wadsworth High School will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday.

The superintendent thanked Chief Dorland, the school resource officers and members of the Wadsworth Police Department for their quick response. No further details were available.
