
INDIANA — A woman has died after being shot early Monday morning on Indianapolis’ near southwest side, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Police said officers were dispatched just after 1 a.m. to the 1300 block of South Sheffield Avenue, near West Morris Street and South Belmont Avenue, on a report of a person shot.
When officers arrived, they located an adult woman suffering from injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition.
IMPD later confirmed that the woman died from her injuries at the hospital.
Authorities have not released any additional information about a suspect or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
