
LOUISIANA — A 66-year-old woman from Natchitoches was killed in a crash Saturday evening on Highway 120, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 5:27 p.m. on February 28 at the intersection of Highway 120 and Highway 175. Investigators said the driver of a 2000 Chevrolet van was traveling west on Highway 120 when the vehicle approached the intersection and failed to stop. The van then left the roadway and struck a ditch embankment.
The driver and two passengers sustained moderate injuries and were transported to a local medical facility for treatment.
One of the passengers, identified as Kathy Birdwell, 66, of Natchitoches, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
State police said all occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
