FLORIDA — A Fort Myers woman is accused of violating her probation following a recent petit theft arrest, according to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers.
Crime Stoppers said Niya Brown, 43, was initially arrested for allegedly stealing dozens of sets of children’s clothing from a Marshalls store. Authorities said Brown paid for a few items before placing additional merchandise in bags and leaving the store without paying for the remaining items.
Officials said the arrest led to a new warrant being issued for violating the terms of her probation. According to Crime Stoppers, Brown has been off the radar for several weeks.
Brown has 17 prior arrests in Lee and Charlotte counties, including charges related to theft, resisting arrest, drug offenses and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
She is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing approximately 280 pounds, and having a tattoo that reads “Baby Fat Cat” on her right arm.
Anyone with information about Brown’s whereabouts is asked to contact Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477), through the P3 Tips app or online. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000 if their information leads to an arrest.
