ILLINOIS — A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of southwest and west central Illinois, with forecasters warning of wet snow that could create slippery roads and impact the Monday morning commute, according to the National Weather Service.

The advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. Monday.

Counties included in the advisory in Illinois are Greene, Macoupin, Adams, Pike, Calhoun, Jersey and Madison. Cities in the affected area include Quincy, Pittsfield, Alton and Edwardsville.

Forecasters say total snow accumulations of up to one inch are expected across much of the region, with a localized area that could see between 2 and 4 inches.

Officials warn that roads may become slick, especially overnight into early Monday morning, potentially affecting travel during the start of the workweek. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution while traveling.

The advisory also includes portions of Missouri, but Illinois residents are encouraged to closely monitor local forecasts and road updates as conditions develop.
