PENNSYLVANIA — One person was killed and several others were injured in a three-vehicle crash early Sunday on the Liberty Bridge in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh Public Safety said police were dispatched to the bridge just before 1 a.m. for reports of a collision. When officers arrived, they found three vehicles involved in the crash, including one that was engulfed in flames.

Authorities said three occupants inside the burning vehicle were pinned. Officers were able to extinguish the fire and rescue an adult man and an adult woman from the car. A third adult female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

An adult man in a second vehicle was evaluated at the scene by paramedics with the Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS and did not require transport to a hospital. The adult occupant of the third vehicle was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.

The city’s Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene and is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
