OHIO — Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported disturbance Saturday night at a home in Harrison Township that led to a burglary arrest.

According to a sheriff’s office spokesperson, deputies were dispatched around 9:42 p.m. to the 30 block of Redder Avenue after neighbors reported individuals arguing on a porch. Callers also indicated that a baby may have been removed from the home.

When deputies arrived, they learned the homeowner had gone downstairs to investigate a noise and discovered that her daughter’s child’s father had allegedly forced his way inside the residence. Authorities said the man caused damage to the home and was holding his 1-year-old son.

The father was described as angry and appearing intoxicated. He allegedly demanded to see the child’s mother. After being told to put the child down, he left the home with the baby, according to officials.

Deputies located the man on a nearby street and attempted to detain him. Authorities said he refused to comply with commands and resisted deputies while holding the child, at one point dropping the baby. A Taser was deployed, and the man was taken into custody.

Medics from the Harrison Township Fire Department evaluated both the child and the suspect at the scene. The baby was not injured. The suspect sustained minor injuries.

Investigators determined the child’s mother was at work at the time and the grandmother had been babysitting when the man allegedly forced entry into the home.

The suspect was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a burglary charge. The incident remains under investigation by the Special Investigations Unit.
