Thousands without power in Texas

TEXAS — Thousands of customers across Texas are without electricity as of Saturday morning, according to the latest outage data.

Currently, 3,745 homes and businesses are without power statewide. That represents approximately 0.02% of the 15,593,209 customers tracked across Texas.

Texas ranks first in the nation for the total number of reported outages and seventh for the percentage of customers affected nationwide.

Out of Texas’ 254 counties, Hays County has the highest number of outages, with 2,091 customers without service. By percentage, Hays County is also the hardest hit, with 1.68% of customers affected.

Other counties reporting outages include Dallas County with 764 customers without power, Lavaca County with 265, Cherokee County with 126, Colorado County with 93, Tyler County with 91, Grimes County with 67, and Montgomery County with 53.

A total of 79 utilities are being tracked across the state. San Marcos Utilities reports the highest number of outages, with 2,091 customers affected. The utility also has the highest percentage of customers without power, at 8.03%.

Utility crews are expected to continue restoration efforts as they work to return service to impacted areas.
