ALABAMA — Three Monroe County residents have been arrested on charges connected to the 2025 Frisco City municipal election, according to Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall.
Authorities announced Thursday that Sarah Bennett, 60, Sharon Denson, 67, and Samantha Kyles, 46, were taken into custody following an investigation into alleged election-related offenses.
Prosecutors say the three defendants face a combined total of 17 counts of ballot harvesting and 20 counts of unlawful use of absentee ballots. According to the indictment, each defendant is accused of falsifying absentee ballot applications or verification documents and harvesting ballots from multiple individuals.
Unlawful use of absentee ballots is classified as a Class C felony in Alabama and carries a potential sentence ranging from one year and one day to 10 years in prison. Ballot harvesting is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.
The Alabama Attorney General’s Office said its Special Prosecutions Division is handling the case. Officials did not release additional details about the alleged conduct, and the investigation remains ongoing.
