MARYLAND — Two men were arrested on multiple drug-related charges following a traffic stop early Sunday morning in Milton, according to the Milton Police Department.
Police said officers pulled over a vehicle around 3 a.m. on Feb. 22 after observing it speeding on Harbeson Road. The driver, identified as 30-year-old Paul Hagerman, reportedly showed signs of drug impairment and was asked to exit the vehicle for standardized field sobriety testing.
Authorities said Hagerman refused to get out of the car and briefly fled after placing the vehicle in drive. During the incident, 35-year-old Lamont Hazzard, who was in the passenger seat, jumped from the moving vehicle, prompting Hagerman to stop again.
After a brief struggle, officers took both men into custody. Hagerman is charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest and speeding in excess of posted limits.
Police said Hazzard was found in possession of crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia. He faces three counts of possession of a counterfeit substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both men were committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution pending arraignment.
