LOUISIANA — Two people, including a previously convicted drug dealer, were arrested Tuesday after East Baton Rouge Parish deputies raided three homes as part of a drug investigation.
Deputies said they began investigating Marcus Clayton, 49, in January and February in connection with prescription pill sales throughout the Baton Rouge area. Clayton had previously been arrested in 2020 in a similar drug-dealing case and served three years in prison before being released in 2025.
On Tuesday, deputies executed search warrants at homes on Lake LaDare Avenue, Lebanon Street and East Marsden Place.
During the raids, authorities seized 28.7 grams of fentanyl — approximately 280 lethal doses — along with 1,561 dosage units of carisoprodol, 134 oxycodone pills, 90 extended-release Adderall pills, 36 tramadol pills, 14 alprazolam pills and one hydrocodone pill.
Deputies also confiscated 341.7 grams of THC gummies, 3.8 grams of THC wax, four THC vape cartridges, 110 grams of psilocybin chocolate bars and 1.2 pounds of marijuana.
Investigators recovered two vehicles, a handgun and $25,916 in cash, all of which are pending seizure.
Clayton was booked on multiple drug distribution charges and money laundering. A second suspect, 57-year-old Laronda Joseph, was also arrested on drug distribution charges.
The investigation remains ongoing.
