Thousands without power in Kentucky

KENTUCKY — More than 3,600 customers across Kentucky are without electricity Wednesday morning, according to the latest data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the most recent update, 3,619 homes and businesses statewide are without power. That represents approximately 0.15% of the 2,476,274 customers tracked across the Commonwealth. The figures were last updated about 10 minutes before publication.

Kentucky currently ranks eighth in the nation for the total number of outages and sixth for the percentage of customers affected.

Bullitt County has the highest number of reported outages, with 2,185 customers without service. That accounts for 5.47% of customers in the county, making it the hardest-hit area in the state by percentage. Other counties with notable outages include Rowan County with 376 customers affected, Shelby County with 267, Spencer County with 136 and Casey County with 130.

Among utilities, Salt River Electric Cooperative reports the largest number of customers without power, with 2,185 outages, affecting 3.79% of its customer base. Shelby Energy Cooperative reports 500 outages, while Fleming-Mason Energy lists 327 customers without service. Kentucky Power reports 172 outages statewide.

Utility crews are working to restore service. Customers are encouraged to report outages directly to their provider and avoid downed power lines.
