VIRGINIA — One person was injured in a shooting Tuesday evening in Virginia Beach, according to police.
Officers with the Virginia Beach Police Department responded around 5:26 p.m. to a report of gunfire in the 6300 block of Providence Road. When officers arrived in the area, they located a victim who had been shot in the 800 block of Monroe Court, within the Lakeville Townhome Apartments community near Providence and Indian River roads.
Police said the victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
No additional information about the victim has been released at this time.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. Authorities have not said whether any suspects have been identified.
