INDIANA — The National Weather Service in Indianapolis says central Indiana could see a mix of light precipitation over the next couple of days, though significant impacts are not expected.

Forecasters say some patchy, very light rain and snow is possible tonight. However, no snow accumulation is expected with this initial round of precipitation.

Additional chances for light rain and snow are forecast to return Wednesday night and continue into Thursday morning. Any snow that does fall is expected to result in less than a half inch of accumulation.

While widespread travel problems are not anticipated, meteorologists caution that a few slick spots could develop early Thursday, particularly on untreated roads, bridges and sidewalks. Drivers are encouraged to use caution during the Thursday morning commute, especially in areas where temperatures dip near or below freezing.

The National Weather Service will continue monitoring the system and provide updates as needed.
