TENNESSEE — Extra security was added to Lewis County schools in Tennessee on Tuesday after a phone threat involving an elementary school student.
According to the director of Lewis County Schools, leadership learned about the alleged threat and immediately ordered additional security at the county’s elementary campus. As a precaution, security was also increased at Lewis County Elementary, Intermediate, and Pre-K schools.
The threat was reportedly made through a phone call that was traced to a small town near Santa Cruz, California. The FBI, along with other agencies, is investigating the source and validity of the threat.
Officials have not indicated that the threat was credible, but security measures were implemented out of caution.
