TENNESSEE — A homicide investigation is underway after a woman’s body was discovered beneath a home in Jackson, Tennessee, on Saturday.

According to the Jackson Police Department, officers found the body of 31-year-old Mirna Ortez Moncada in a crawl space under a home on Raintree Cove in North Jackson.

Police said Moncada had been reported missing on Feb. 16. On Saturday, family members contacted officers and directed them to the Raintree Cove residence, which authorities said belongs to an acquaintance of Moncada.

Although family members have identified the body as Moncada, officials said it has been transported to Nashville for a forensic autopsy to officially confirm her identity and determine the cause of death.

The Jackson Police Department is treating the case as a homicide. Anyone with information is asked to contact the department at 731-425-8400 or CrimeStoppers at 731-424-8477.
