VIRGINIA — Three people were arrested and multiple drugs and weapons were seized following a drug bust in Henry County, Virginia on Friday, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies executed a search warrant around 11:45 a.m. at a home on Out-A-Way Drive in Bassett as part of an ongoing investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Vice Unit and Drug Interdiction Unit.

During the investigation, a traffic stop was conducted on 67-year-old Claude Donnell Woods, a convicted felon who lived at the residence. A K-9 unit helped deputies locate suspected crack cocaine, methamphetamine, money, and firearms. Woods was charged with multiple drug distribution offenses and firearm-related charges and is being held without bond.

While deputies searched the property, 47-year-old Verlon Reno Hall barricaded himself inside a structure. The SWAT team responded and used chemical munitions before Hall exited peacefully. He was charged with resisting arrest, falsely identifying himself, and probation violations and is also being held without bond.

A third man, 57-year-old Leroy Ellis, arrived at the property during the search and was found to be wanted by Martinsville Police. He was arrested on charges including assault on a law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, trespassing, and drunk in public. He is being held on a $1,000 secured bond.

Authorities seized approximately 13 ounces of crack cocaine, 5 ounces of methamphetamine, digital scales, eight firearms, three vehicles, three ATVs, a utility trailer, and other equipment. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
