PENNSYLVANIA — A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for large portions of Pennsylvania, with several inches of snow possible from late Saturday night through Monday afternoon.
The National Weather Service said eastern, central and northeastern Pennsylvania could see significant snowfall as the storm system moves through the region.
In eastern and southeastern Pennsylvania — including Philadelphia, Delaware, Chester, Montgomery, Bucks, Lehigh, Northampton, Berks, Carbon and Monroe counties — heavy snow is possible beginning Sunday morning and continuing through Monday afternoon. Forecasters say total accumulations could exceed 6 inches in some areas, with wind gusts up to 35 mph. Travel conditions could become very difficult, especially during the Monday morning and evening commutes.
Central Pennsylvania counties, including Dauphin, Lebanon, Schuylkill, Adams, York and Lancaster, are under a Winter Storm Watch from late Saturday night through Monday afternoon. Snow totals between 4 and 6 inches are possible, though officials note there is still some uncertainty in the storm’s track, which could result in higher amounts.
In western Pennsylvania, including Cambria and Somerset counties, heavy snow is possible from late Saturday night through late Monday night. Accumulations between 4 and 8 inches are forecast, along with wind gusts up to 35 mph.
Officials are urging residents to monitor the latest forecasts and prepare for hazardous travel conditions as snow moves into the Commonwealth late this weekend.
