
VIRGINIA — The Virginia State Police reported seizing more than $1.2 million worth of illegal narcotics and dozens of firearms during a week of crime suppression operations across the Commonwealth.
According to the agency’s weekly report released Friday, troopers confiscated nearly 37 pounds of illegal drugs and 68 firearms between Feb. 11 and Feb. 17.
The seizures included 638 fentanyl pills; 14.7 pounds of marijuana; 9.2 pounds of cocaine; 6.8 pounds of methamphetamine; 3.1 pounds of fentanyl; 2.4 pounds of psilocybin; 9.2 ounces of so-called “designer drugs”; and 4 ounces each of heroin and crack cocaine.
Authorities estimate the street value of the narcotics at $1,264,824. The firearms seized are valued at approximately $34,500. Troopers also recovered $45,797 in U.S. currency during the enforcement efforts.
State police said the operations were conducted in partnership with federal and local law enforcement agencies.
“The Virginia State Police remain steadfast in their mission to enhance public safety and uphold the laws throughout the Commonwealth while supporting the Governor’s initiatives on violent crime,” a VSP spokesperson said in a Feb. 20 news release. “By working in close collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, law enforcement continues to disrupt criminal enterprises and safeguard communities.”
