One person dead following hit-and-run incident in Florida

FLORIDA — A 48-year-old woman was killed early Friday morning in a hit-and-run crash while riding her bicycle in Eustis, according to the Eustis Police Department.

The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. in the southbound lane of Lakeshore Boulevard near Eustis Road. Police said the bicyclist, identified as Tracy Schievenin, was struck from behind by a vehicle and thrown from her bicycle.

The driver did not stop and fled the scene. Schievenin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released any information regarding the make, model or color of the vehicle involved.

The Eustis Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit is investigating the crash and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
