
LOUISIANA — One person was killed in a shooting Thursday evening in LaPlace, according to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the shooting happened in the Cambridge subdivision near the intersection of Yorktowne Drive and Newport Drive. Deputies responded to the scene after reports of gunfire.
Officials confirmed at least one person died as a result of the shooting. No additional details about the victim have been released.
The sheriff’s office said there is no ongoing threat to residents in the area. Investigators are working to determine what led up to the shooting and whether any suspects are involved.
