PENNSYLVANIA — Several school districts and private schools across Pennsylvania have announced delayed openings for Friday, February 20, 2026, due to weather-related concerns and travel conditions.
Charis Academy, Forest City Regional, Hazleton Area, Holy Rosary in Duryea, Northwest Area, Wayne Highlands, Wyoming Area, and Wyoming Area Catholic will all operate on a two-hour delay. Officials say the delays are intended to allow for improved road conditions and safer transportation for students and staff during the morning commute.
Pittston Area School District will also be on a two-hour delay, with no morning Career and Technical Center (CTC) classes scheduled. Meanwhile, Western Wayne School District has announced a two-hour delay with no morning pre-kindergarten or early intervention programs.
School administrators typically implement delays rather than full closures when conditions are expected to improve after sunrise, giving road crews additional time to treat and clear roads while still allowing for in-person instruction later in the day.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to check directly with their local school districts for any additional schedule adjustments, transportation updates, or extracurricular activity changes as weather conditions continue to be monitored.
