OHIO — A juvenile is in custody following a series of vehicle break-ins and a brief police chase early Thursday morning, according to the Englewood Police Department.

Officers were alerted around 6 a.m. on Feb. 19 to suspicious activity in the Westbrook Meadows subdivision, where several masked individuals dressed in dark clothing were reportedly running between homes and checking for unlocked vehicles. Police said multiple vehicles were entered, and one was stolen after keys were left inside.

Authorities located the stolen vehicle as it fled the neighborhood and deployed tire deflation devices, which damaged two of the tires. The suspect, identified as a 17-year-old male, continued to flee through Trotwood and into Harrison Township during a pursuit that lasted about 10 minutes.

The juvenile eventually bailed from the vehicle and was taken into custody.

He is being held at the Juvenile Intervention Center and faces charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer.
