TENNESSEE — Three Sneedville residents have been charged in connection with a 2024 overdose death caused by fentanyl, according to authorities.

The Hancock County Grand Jury indicted the three individuals following an investigation into the death of Sloane Holt, who was found dead in his front yard in Sneedville in December 2024. Investigators from local agencies and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation determined that Holt died from fentanyl toxicity.

Officials said the investigation found that one of the suspects was involved in distributing the drugs that led to Holt’s death, while two others were also linked to fentanyl distribution in Hancock County. The indictments were returned on Feb. 9, and all three suspects were arrested last week.

Kwade Seldon Alder was charged with second-degree murder, delivery of fentanyl, tampering with evidence and conspiracy to sell or deliver 150 grams or more of fentanyl. His bond was set at $200,000.

Toby Scott Alder faces charges of conspiracy to sell or deliver 150 grams or more of fentanyl, sale or delivery of morphine and two counts of sale or delivery of fentanyl. His bond was set at $130,000.

Halyn Savannah Alder was charged with conspiracy to sell or deliver 150 grams or more of fentanyl and received a $70,000 bond.

All three suspects were booked into the Hancock County Jail.
