SOUTH CAROLINA — One person was killed and another injured in a late-night wrong-way crash on SC-170 in Beaufort County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the collision happened around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday near Old Field Way. Authorities reported that a 2019 Infiniti QX50 was traveling in the wrong direction on the eastbound side of the highway when it struck a 2009 Toyota sedan head-on.
The driver of the Toyota died at the scene. Officials have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the Infiniti was injured in the crash and was transported by emergency medical services to Memorial Health in Savannah for treatment.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. No additional details have been released at this time.
