GEORGIA — Three drivers were taken to the hospital Wednesday morning after a four-vehicle crash involving a school bus in Liberty County, authorities said.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the crash happened after a school bus stopped on Talmadge Road to pick up two children. Two vehicles were stopped behind the bus when a third vehicle approaching from the rear struck the vehicles waiting behind it, causing a chain-reaction collision involving a school bus, two pickup trucks and a Chevrolet Impala.

Trooper Christopher Cronsell said the rearmost vehicle ran off the roadway after the impact.

There were 13 children and two adults on the bus at the time of the crash. None of them reported injuries. Emergency crews evaluated those on board at the scene, and school officials were notifying parents.

The driver of the Impala was transported by ambulance to a hospital. The driver of a Chevrolet Silverado suffered serious injuries and was flown from the scene. The driver of a Dodge Ram was also taken by ambulance. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
