ALABAMA — A Danville man was arrested during a traffic stop that led to the seizure of drugs, firearms and cash, according to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.
Phillip Todd Burgess, 47, was stopped near the intersection of Iron Man Road and Blankenship Road in Danville. During the stop, deputies discovered a large quantity of a white powder-like substance that later tested positive for cocaine, as well as marijuana.
Following the traffic stop, investigators obtained a search warrant for Burgess’ home on Blankenship Road. Authorities said they found additional cocaine, marijuana, prescription controlled substance medication, firearms and cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
Burgess was taken into custody and charged with drug trafficking in cocaine, first-degree possession of marijuana and unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, specifically hydrocodone.
He is being held in the Morgan County Jail on an $18,500 bond. Officials said additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
