NORTH CAROLINA — A 60-year-old man has been charged with multiple drug-related offenses following an investigation in west Charlotte.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police executed a search warrant at a home on Edgegreen Drive on Feb. 8 around 5:30 p.m. Inside a bedroom, officers found approximately 40 grams of suspected fentanyl and 58 grams of suspected crack cocaine hidden in a baseboard trap, along with $2,752 in cash. Police also reported finding 427 grams (just under one pound) of suspected marijuana in a cardboard box.

The suspect, Dwayne Eddie Mungo, faces charges including trafficking cocaine and opium, felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for drug activity, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to court documents, officers said they had previously stopped vehicles leaving the residence and found crack cocaine during searches. Mungo allegedly told officers he was a functioning addict who sold drugs to people who needed them.

He is being held on a $750,000 bond.
