INDIANA — Police are searching for an armed and wanted suspect following an incident Monday in Beech Grove.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers are on the scene in the 100 block of Diplomat Court as they actively search for the suspect.
The suspect is described as a Black man in his 30s wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
Authorities are asking residents in the area to shelter in place, lock their doors and report any suspicious activity to 911.
Emerson Avenue has been shut down from Churchman Avenue to Interstate 465. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
The situation remains under investigation. Police said updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
