TEXAS — A Jasper woman was arrested on Valentine’s Day after a Jasper County sheriff’s deputy discovered suspected methamphetamine during an encounter on a rural roadway.
According to Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard, a deputy made contact with Jamie Brown, 33, of Jasper, while she was parked along County Road 296. The deputy recognized Brown from prior encounters and knew she did not have a valid driver’s license, Havard said.
During the consensual encounter, the deputy developed reasonable suspicion that Brown was in possession of illegal narcotics. Authorities said Brown admitted she had narcotics and handed the deputy a clear bag containing a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.
Brown was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, greater than or equal to one gram but less than four grams, a third-degree felony. She was transported to and booked into the Jasper County Jail.
If convicted, Brown faces a possible sentence of two to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
