LOUISIANA — Louisiana State Police seized 23 off-road vehicles and recovered multiple firearms during an enforcement operation Saturday near Canal Street and Claiborne Avenue in New Orleans.
According to state police, troopers confiscated 18 four-wheelers and five dirt bikes and made multiple arrests involving what authorities described as dangerous and reckless operators. Numerous guns were also recovered during the crackdown.
Police said the off-road vehicles were traveling in the area of the Endymion parade route, creating what officials called a serious risk to public safety.
In a statement, Louisiana State Police said the illegal activity will not be tolerated and emphasized that such operations are aimed at protecting paradegoers and residents during the busy Carnival season.
The investigation remains ongoing.
