Thousands without power in Texas

TEXAS — More than 11,000 customers across Texas are without electricity as of Saturday evening, according to the latest outage data.

At the time of the report, 11,537 homes and businesses are without power statewide. That represents approximately 0.07% of the 15,539,821 customers tracked across Texas.

Texas currently has the highest number of power outages in the United States and ranks fifth nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.

Out of the state’s 254 counties, Gregg County reported the largest number of outages, with 1,361 customers without service. By percentage, Gregg County was also the hardest hit, with 1.72% of customers experiencing outages.

Statewide, 78 utilities are being monitored. Oncor reported the highest number of customers without power, with 3,566 outages. Meanwhile, Houston County Electric Cooperative had the highest percentage of customers affected, with 2.37% of its system without service.

Utility crews continue working to restore power where outages have been reported.
